Goal No. 5: Children and Families' Well-Being is included in the County of Los Angeles Strategic Plan. Goal No. 5 focuses on measuring the well-being of children and families in Los Angeles County as measured by achievements in the five outcome areas adopted by the Board:

  • Good Health
  • Safety and Survival
  • Economic Well-Being
  • Social and Emotional Well-Being
  • Education and Workforce Readiness

Goal No. 5 defines a "family" as a support group of people consisting of children, their caregivers, and other adults, including seniors, who relate to each other and are interdependent for meeting their basic living needs.

Goal No. 5 serves as the strategic planning document, or "umbrella" for the many multi-agency and departmental activities underway to improve the lives of children and families. All County departments serving children and families are involved in the implementation of Goal No. 5 strategies and objectives (Phase II). Phase I has been substantially completed and Phase II was adopted in December 2002.
